F.P Journe Chronometre Bleu

F.P Journe released the Chronometre Bleu as yet another example of the brandโ€™s forward thinking approach to watchmaking. F.P Journe has dedicated a substantial amount of R&D to this model, which is set to be an ambassador of the fundamentals of Swiss horology.

The designers at F.P Journe chose to use Tantalum for the case despite the metalโ€™s notorious lack of pliability. Tantalum is one of the most aesthetically appealing metals due to its dark grey hue with blue overtones. Tantalum is extremely hard and has a fusion temperature of 3800 degrees centigrade and a density index of 16.6. Tantalum is also considered to be a precious metal as it is highly resistant to corrosion and is also hypoallergenic.

FP 1The case stands at 39mm in diameter and 8.6mm for the case height, which is small by todayโ€™s standards. However, the size makes this watch perfect for wear with a tailored suit. The sleek main crown is textured for the painless adjustments of the time. The fixed bezel holds securely a scratch resistant sapphire crystal that protects the dial from the elements.

The dial on this gorgeous timepieceis a chrome blue, chosen to complement the stunning case. The dial uses large Arabic numerals and uniquely shaped hands to indicate the time. At the 7:30 position is a small seconds subdial equippedwith white demarcations and a trendy counterbalance for the seconds hand.

This model is driven by a Swiss made manual wound movement. The movement features a twin barrel system parallel to each other and a power reserve of 56 hours. The balance wheel has 4 inertia weights, which increases its stability while it alternates at 21,600 oscillations per hour. This watch is adjusted at all positions ensuring extreme accuracy. The movement can be viewed through an exhibition sapphire case back.

The F.P Journe Chronometre Bleu is fitted with a shiny blue alligator leather strap which completes the watch and emphasizes the sheer design mastery of this noted Swiss watchmaker.FP 3
