Deep Blue Master Explorer 1000 Watch Review and Video Review

by Don Evans

The Master Explorer 1000 uses the Miyota 9015 automatic movement.ย  This movement has proven to be very reliable and accurate over the past few years and many of the micro brand or boutique companies have been making use of it. This particular example has kept excellent time at +7 seconds timed over 2 days.

As I mentioned earlier, not only are the dial and hour markers lumed, so is the bezel of the Master Exploer. The lume is above average, but not what I normally considered up to Deep Blue standards. Many of the Deep Blue models I have personally reviewed, or owned, in the past have been like torches. This one falls a little short in the lume department. Donโ€™t get me wrong, it is far from a weak lume application, but just not what I have been used to when it comes to Deep Blue watches.

On my 7.5 inch wrist it fits perfectly. Almost like it was made for me. These days, I’m not a huge bracelet guy when it comes to my watches, and while it is very substantial at 268 grams, it is balanced well between the case and bracelet and not top heavy.

Summary: Many had been asking Deep Blue to come out with some more affordable options over the past 2 years. This model was one of their answers to it, among a few others.ย  This watch was sent to me by a friend who had just recently purchased it, and I was very impressed overall. With a few exceptions, like the micro adjustment holes, and raised sapphire crystal, I think Deep Blue did a great job with the Master Explorer 1000, expcially for it being under the $500 price point.

The Deep Blue Master Exploer 1000 comes in a few other colors such as black, blue, yellow and orange, and can be purchased directly from the Deep Blue Website.

Great review. What’s the crystal diameter? Do you think I can pull it off with my 6.5″ wrists?
