Deep Blue Announces the Master Explorer

by WatchReport

Deep Blue has recently announced a new diver called the “Master Explorer“. This new model, unlike many from Deep Blue, does not feature tritium illumination opting instead for a Super-LumiNova treatment on the indices, hands and bezel scale. Along with what looks to be very powerful lume, the Master Explorer features a 46 x 17 mm stainless steel case fitted with a sapphire crystal and a helium escape valve to match up with its 1000m water resistance. Timekeeping is taken care of by a reliable Miyota 9015 automatic movement which features hacking and hand-winding. The Master Explorer is being sold directly though ShopNBC for a very reasonable $338 and can be had with a yellow, orange, red, blue, or black dial. We have yet to see a Deep Blue watch in person but the Master Explorer looks to be excellent value given its capable movement, sapphire crystal and ample use of luminous paint. Update (2/12/2011): The Master Explorer is now on sale for $279.34, we are not sure how long this sale price will be active.

Some folks view watches hawked by SHOPNBC somehow lesser in quality or overly influenced by the trends that SHOPNBC pushes…some of the styles are pretty grotesque.ย ย Deep Blue seems to have avoided, for the most part,ย succumbing toย some of the excesses in case diameter and thickness and they make a pretty good watch andย probably should be subject to the greater scrutiny offered by one of your reviews.ย ย ย

Brilliant watch, regulated the 9015 movement and hasn’t lost a second in 2 weeks. Comfy and tough
