There is no better way to open a boutique than to create a watch that honors the host country. Well, that is exactly what Audemars Piguet did to celebrate opening its newest boutique in Qatar. The watch gets its name because Doha is Qatarโs capital city. The Royal Oak Offshore Doha is typical to the collection with its smooth lines, attention to detail, and rugged aesthetics. Yet this watch does possess a character of its own. This timepiece is available in a very limited quantity of just 100 pieces, and retails strictly from the boutique in Qatar.
The case of this watch is manufactured from titanium and features case dimensions of 42mm, which many consider to be the ideal case size for a gentโs watch. The iconic octagonal bezel is made from black ceramic. The bezel features screws which gives this watch its sporty edge.
The case back features both titanium and sapphire crystal, which exhibits the movement. The titanium section of the case back is engraved with the name of the watch and the limited edition number (XXX/100). The chronograph pushers are made from black rubber, while the main crown is screw locked; which helps to maintain the 100 meters (10 bars) water resistance.
The dial is satin finished slate grey with contrasting anthracite subdials at the 6, 9, and 12 positions. The small seconds on this watch is located at the 12 oโclock position. The hours and minutes for the chronograph function are located at the 6 and 9 positions respectively and use red indicators. The chronograph seconds hand is centrally located and is also in red. On the vaulted flange is a graduated tachometric scale for the measurement of mean speed.
Powering the Royal Oak Offshore Doha is an in house self-winding movement Calibre 3126/3840. This movement features an oscillating rotor made from 22kt yellow gold.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Doha uses a large square scale grey alligator leather strap equipped with an AP folding clasp. This model enjoys a standard 2 year international guarantee upon purchase.
