Oris Williams F1 Team Limited Edition
Brand new from Oris for 2013 is the latest chapter to the Williams F1 collection – a limited edition version. Oris has been a staunch supporter of Formula 1 racing since time immemorial. Oris started in Switzerland in 1904, a year when wristwatches were just coming into the fore. Through the brand’s spirit for ingenuity and an eye for trends, Oris was able to capture the attention of a relatively large following. To date, the Williams F1 series remains the brand’s most popular collection. This model is produced in a limited numbered series of 600 pieces worldwide to celebrate the 600th Formula 1 race of the Williams Team.
Carved from stainless steel, the Williams F1 Team Limited Edition from Oris is a stunning example of good, solid watchmaking that is functional yet aesthetically pleasing. The case is made from different parts joined together and features a 44mm diameter. The lugs on this model are flexible ensuring total comfort.
The bezel ring is in black and, in true racing style, carries a graduated tachometric scale with white Arabic numerals. Tachometers are used with the chronograph function to calculate average speed over a set distance. The bezel also houses a flat sapphire crystal glare proofed on the underside, which protects the dial. The case back features a mineral crystal; this allows the wearer to the movement which drives this timepiece.
The movement is a Swiss made automatic Oris 773 which uses an SW500 base. The oscillating mass is hued in red on the Williams F1 Team Limited Edition. The balance wheel vibrates at 28,800 VpH for precision timing. This model carries a power reserve of 48 hours.
The dial is in black and carries two blue ringed subdials. The subdials feature the chronograph minutes and hours at 12 and 6 respectively. The chrono seconds are indicated with a central hand also in blue. Oris uses silver toned indexes, and hour and minute hands which all give excellent contrast against the dial ensuring legibility. At the 6 position is located a date display window. The Williams Team logo is located at the 9 position balancing the Oris logo at the 3.
The strap is made from black rubber and is fitted with a tang type buckle. This model is made to withstand 100 meters of water pressure, making this watch ideal for everyday wear. The Oris Williams F1 Team Limited Edition comes in a special box with a certificate.
